Is It Wrong to Drink?

Is It Wrong to Drink? Drinking beer, wine, whiskey and other beverages which contain alcohol, and therefore make one drunk, is a very old practice. The first time drinking is mentioned in the Bible is in Genesis, chapter 9. Noah, a righteous man, became drunk and lay naked in his tent. This good man had his sense of right and wrong dulled by the evil effects of drinking. In Genesis 19, we read of another righteous man, Lot, who was overcome by the evil effects of alcohol. While drunk, he had sexual relations with his own daughters!    Again, a good man lost his sense of right and wrong when under the influence of alcohol. The writer of Proverbs warned: "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whoever is deceived thereby is not wise" (Proverbs 20:1). Some people try to support their sinful habit of drinking by going to the Bible. They point out that some passages in the Bible speak of drinking wine as a good thing(Genesis 14:18; Amos 9:14; Zechariah 10:7, etc). But th

THOSE WHO FOLLOW GOD

THOSE WHO FOLLOW GOD             Paul admonished the Christians at Ephesus to, "Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children." (Ephesians 5:1) As dear and precious children of God Christians must feel strongly the obligation to be followers of God. Our entire life and conduct must be like the Lord Jesus. In actions, words and attitude we must imitate Him. We are God's children and it is natural for children to imitate their parents. It should be our constant aim to imitate our Heavenly Father. Those who follow God must show their love to our heavenly Father. We must develop His mind in our hearts and show in our life that we are like our Father.               Those who follow God must walk in love. Jesus is our great example of love. He offered Himself to God as an offering and a sacrifice for our sins. "And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour." (Ephesi

IS THERE A MAN AMONG US?

IS THERE A MAN AMONG US? Tom Moore  The Almighty declared, “And I sought for a man among them that should build up the wall, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it but I found none” (Ezek 22:30), The Lord is looking for the same type of - men today—men who will stand in the gap between truth and error, and not allow the church to be destroyed. The great God of heaven is looking for men who will “build the wall” to prevent the infiltration of religious error and the doctrines of men. The question is: Will there any to fulfill this charge?  The Lord is looking for men who will be faithful examples of steadfast church attendance, in leadership, in sound doctrine, in courage, in modest dress, etc. He is looking for men who will be “an example of the believers” (I Tim 4:12). God is looking for those who will be an example of “good works: in doctrine showing uncorniptness, gravity, sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary

SIX WAYS SATAN GAINS ADVANTAGE OF THE CHURCH

SIX WAYS SATAN GAINS ADVANTAGE OF THE CHURCH Jimmy Young     Let us not kid ourselves; Satan is “good” at what he does. He knows all there is to be known in getting the advantage of the church. We can be assured that he has no plans to give-up on destroying each of us! All we have to do is to look around, and you don’t have look too far to see his destructive work. Remember, I’m not speaking of the world, he already has it. I’m speaking of the church. Paul said, “Lest Satan should get advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Corinthians 2:11). Peter also gives us these wise words to follow, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world”(1 Peter 5:8-9).     When Christians fail to do as God has directed, we become distracted and then we become vulnerable to Satan’s m
