What the Bible Teaches on Benevolence

What the Bible Teaches on Benevolence Lindsay Allen Since God is a God of love, pity and compassion, it is not surprising that he has always championed the cause of widows, the fatherless and other poor and unfortunate people. At the same time, God has stressed that these people should not be shown preferential treatment before the courts simply because they were poor. The poor too, may pay their due according to their ability and opportunity. However, God's law regarding the treatment or neglect of such people is firm and stringent. "Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry; and my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children father-less" (Exod. 22:22-24). Jesus reminds us, "The poor ye have with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good" (Mk. 14:7). Matthew's picture of the fina

The Lord's MONEY

The Lord's MONEY Jady W. Copeland In previous articles we have seen that the purpose of the Lord's advent into the world was spiritual, and further that the purpose of our work as followers of him likewise is spiritual. Not only does he save us to be finally glorified in the next world, but he uses us to save others (I Tim. 4:15-16; 2 Tim. 2:2). When we stop to think about the fact that our sojourn in the world is so very short, and that "things" are purely temporary, we immediately realize that material possessions are simply tools which we use to save ourselves and those who hear us. But man is too often bothered with covetousness. We are "possessed by our possessions" (they control us instead of our controlling them) and because they are something we can see, use and enjoy here we too often think more of the material than the eternal. Paul speaks of the ministry of the word and the hardships it causes "pressed on every side, yet not straightened;

Dr Pastor Paul Enenche & Benson Omole on TITHE

SEEDS OF DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL BY DR. PASTOR PAUL ENENCHE FRIDAY 19 JULY, 2019 TOPIC: TITHE; THE SECURITY OF YOUR FINANCE SCRIPTURE: Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse… and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes…Malachi 3:10-11 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The tithe is what secures the balance of the money in your hand. The tithe is the 10% of whatever income or money that you earn. Giving this 10% of your income to God is called tithing. Against the diverse misconceptions from different quarters, it is important to know that the tithe is not a church doctrine; it is a blessing covenant connector. When God says, bring ye all the tithes… (Malachi 3:10-11), He is saying that you should give Him a portion of what He gave you so that the rest can be secured. Bishop David Oyedepo said that his grandmot
