THE BIBLE SPEAKS DAILY (OCTOBER 20th, 2024)
TODAY'S TOPIC: MATURITY OF THE FAITH: FORGIVING OTHERS.
TODAY'S VERSE— Ephesians 4:32.
"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."
The Heart that is matured in the Faith of Christ may not be fluent in quoting the Bible freely.
It is the Heart that has the compassion, and forgiveness to pardon freely.
Jesus teaches us to love our enemies, and he gave us the precious example of even dying for his enemies—that is, all of us. Christ's love and compassion for us is incomprehensible; He showed it by forgiving us all, and dying for us all.
This love must also move us to forgive others for their sins and faults against us.
The Lord can help us to forgive everything.
Nelson Mandela courageously fought against apartheid in South Africa. His actions led to wrongful convictions and long term in prison because of his political enemies. As he was leaving prison, he was quoted as saying, “As I stand at the door of my freedom, I realize that if I don't leave my pain, anger, and bitterness behind, I will always be in prison.”
Self-imprisonment is worse than the imprisonment that is imposed on you, from the outside. Many people suffer from self-imposed prisons by refusing to forgive others their sins. But the inner walls of Anger and Resentment do not make us strong; instead, they make us bitter and miserable. We may lose our focus in the eternal race.
When Nelson Mandela later came to power as the president of his country, he did not establish the law of the victor. Rather than seeking revenge against his political enemies, he showed forgiveness to all.
The film Invictus, inspired by his actions, shows the power of forgiveness.
Are you aware of your daily need for God’s forgiveness? Why do you think it’s difficult to forgive others?
To whom is God calling you to forgive today, then freely forgive. Matthew 18:21-22.
If you do not forgive those who sin against you, your Heavenly Father will also not forgive you your sins!!! (Matthew 6:15; 18:35; Mark 11:26; Romans 12:14).
TODAY'S PRAYER:
Father, thank you for the forgiveness you offer me, in Christ Jesus. Help me to be gracious enough to forgive, and have compassion on those who have wronged me, for Jesus’ sake.
O God, strengthen my inner weaknesses!
Kindly heal the Sick and bless the Needy,
Amen.
