THE IMPORTANCE OF THE RESURRECTION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.
THE IMPORTANCE OF THE RESURRECTION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.
Benson Omole.
The resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ is a cornerstone of our faith, it stands at the very heart of the Christian faith. Scripture presents the resurrection not only as a miracle, but as the foundation of salvation, hope, and Christian living.
Here are key biblical benefits, implications and importance of His resurrection:
1. Proof of Jesus' divinity:
Romans 1:4, "and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead."
The resurrection validates Christ’s divine identity and authority.
2. Validation of Jesus' teachings:
John 2:19-22, Jesus predicted his resurrection, validating his claims. He actually died at the Cross, and He actually resurrected from the grave, according to His word, and promise.
3. Hope for believers' resurrection:
1 Corinthians 15:20-22, "But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep." The resurrection provides deep, unshakeable hope, for believing Christians.
1Peter 1:3: “Begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” Christian hope is alive because Christ is alive, forevermore.
4. Assurance of salvation:
Romans 4:25, "who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification."
5. Power for living:
Philippians 3:10, "that I may know him and the power of his resurrection."
Romans 6:5, “For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,”.
6. Foundation of Christian preaching:
1Corinthians 15:14, "And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain."
Without the resurrection, Christianity collapses. The resurrection makes the gospel powerful, meaningful, and effective. Surely, Christianity stands out.
7. Victory over death and sin:
1Corinthians 15:55-57, "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?"
8. Assurance of Our Justification:
The resurrection proves that Christ’s sacrifice for sin was accepted by God.
Romans 4:25 “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” Because He rose, believers are declared righteous before God.
9. Victory Over Sin:
The resurrection demonstrates Christ’s triumph over the power of sin.
Romans 6:10 “For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.” Sin no longer has dominion over those who are in Christ.
10. Victory Over Death.
Christ’s resurrection broke the power of physical and spiritual death.
1 Corinthians 15:54: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” Believers now have the assurance that death is not the end of life.
11. New Spiritual Life for Believers:
The resurrection empowers believers to live a transformed lives.
Romans 6:4: “Just as Christ was raised from the dead… we also should walk in newness of life.” Christians are given spiritual renewal and moral transformation, in Christ.
12. The Living Intercessor for Believers:
Because Jesus is alive, He continually intercedes for believers.
Hebrews 7:25: “He ever lives to make intercession for them.” Believers have an active advocate before God. 1John 2:1-4.
13. Authority and Lordship of Christ:
The resurrection established Christ’s universal authority.
Matthew 28:18 : “All authority has been given to Me in Heaven and on the earth.”
Jesus now reigns as Lord over all creation.
14. All our worship is acceptable to God the Almighty, by the sacrificial death and graceful resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, from the grave:
His offering became acceptable in the beloved, as a perfect sacrifice for the sins of many. Romans 6:5 “For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,”.
Final Thought:
As you match forward, in the race, let the truth of the resurrection fill your soul with joy and peace.
The Savior who conquered the grave lives within you, and among you, ensuring that you do not have to live in fear.
Take heart and stay encouraged—the King is risen, and he is with you. We shall soon have the taste of the same power of His resurrection, if we do not relent.
Thanks for the opportunity to teach this.
