WHY BEHAVING IN THIS WAY? (Part One)

WHY BEHAVING IN THIS WAY? (Part One)

“…He who is devoid of wisdom despises his neighbor, but a man of understanding holds his peace…” (Proverbs 11:12) “…Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established…” (Proverbs 24:3)

The relevant answer to this question is not a simple one.
The study of the diversity of human behavior involves behavioral science. It is a multidisciplinary field that uses psychology, sociology, anthropology, and other disciplines to understand the wide range of different personalities, human actions and interactions. It examines how differences in biology, culture, environment, and experience lead to variation in human personal traits within and between populations.

Key goals of this study are to appreciate ourselves, describe our motivations, comprehend behavioral patterns, and predict these variations to improve individual and group outcomes. We shall understand management strategies to avoid infractions, conflicts, breakdown of relationships, and etc. It is hoped that this treatise will advance our understanding, improvement of family bond, interpersonal/intrapersonal relationships, and unity among the Brethren!

The differences in human personalities are rooted in a complex interplay of genetic, environmental, and cultural factors. Here are some key influences:

GENETIC FACTORS.

1. Genetic predispositions: Genetic differences can influence personality traits, such as extraversion or introversion.

 2. Brain structure and function: Variations in brain structure and function can impact personality.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

1. Upbringing and family dynamics: Family environment, parenting styles, and sibling relationships can shape personality.
 2. Life experiences: Significant life events, such as trauma or major life changes, can impact personality development.
 3. Social interactions: Interactions with others, including friends, peers, and community, can influence personality.

CULTURAL FACTORS

1. Cultural norms and values: Cultural norms, values, and expectations can shape personality development.
 2. Socialization: Cultural socialization can influence personality traits, such as collectivism or individualism.

INTERACTION OF FACTORS:

1. Gene-environment interaction: Genetic predispositions can interact with environmental factors to shape personality.
 2. Epigenetics: Environmental factors can impact gene expression, influencing personality development.

The complex interplay of all these factors contributes to the unique personality differences we see in individuals around us, in the family, community and in the Church.
